Christmas Angel Tree

This yeah, I've committed to become an Christmas Warrior for a girl named Amber(not her real name). Amber is a 4 year old from Russia who happens to have Down Syndrome. Because she was born with an extra chromosome, she was discarded by her parents, and she lives in an orphanage. The life for orphans with disabilities in eastern Europe is not pretty. In many countries, they are transfered out of their baby houses at age 5 into a mental institution, often living with mentally or physically disabled adults. A large number of them don't survive their first year there. Amber turns 5 in a few short months.

Reece's Rainbow is an organization that was started to help find families for children around the world with Down Syndrome and many other disabilities. They advocate for them, and help raise funds in the form of grants for waiting children. My goal is to raise $1000 dollars for Amber's grant fund by the end of 2011. Anyone who donates a minimum of $35 to Amber's fund thru Reece's Rainbow's Angel Tree fund will receive a cool ornament with her picture on it. You can donate to her fund (or any of the other childrens) at any time, but you won't receive an ornament, or have it count toward my goal of raising $1000 until November 1st. I have a few giveaways planned. Come back soon to check them out! If you feel like you or someone you know may be Amber's family, feel free to contact someone at Reece's Rainbow for more info about her.

Thanks!
